Ancientopedia

The Romans were a civilization that lived from 753 BC to 1453 AD. The Romans were considered one of the most bloodthirsty civilizations of their time.

The founding of Rome[]

Many Roman legends say two boys, Romulus and Remus were abandoned by a riverside, but found and nursed by a she-wolf. Then, the two grew up, but Romulus murdured Remus and founded Rome. This is not true, as farmers from Ancient Europe came together and founded the city.

Roman Warfare[]

Roman enemies[]

The Romans had the best armies of their time. They slaughtered millions and millions of people that opposed them. The Romans were very crafty and full of cunning. They invented weapons that could kill many, and had many battle tactics. The Romans main enemies were the Celtic Tribes, the Greeks and the Britans.

Roman Soldiers[]

Roman soldiers were very well paid. They served the army for twenty-five years, and built up retirement money by stealing from the towns they attacked. Roman soldiers, when they retired, got a reasonably-sized lot of land and a fraction of the money they earned and any people they captured as slaves... if they managed to live that long.

Roman Politics[]

= Rulers[]

At first, the Romans had a king named Tarquinius Superbus. However, the people threw him out of the city and decided to make their city a Republic. Then, along came Julius Caesar, who declared himself Dictator for life. His best friend, Brutus, then killed him, along with about twenty other men. Brutus declared himself king.
